Charlize Theron grew up on a farm outside Benoni in South Africa she got and education as a ballet dancer. There was not much work for a ballet dancer in South Africa so she soon traveled to Europe and later the US. In the states she worked at the Joffrey Ballet in New York until an injured knee put a stop to her ballet career.
At the age of 18 her mother had her go to Los Angeles to try her hand at the movie industry, after eight months she had her first part in movie and she started taking acting lessons and her career have mostly skyrocketed from there.
